The 10 teams of the Indian Premier League recently revealed their player retentions, with Chennai Super Kings retaining Dhoni as an uncapped player for INR 4 Cr.
The other four cricketers kept by the five-time champions are captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 18 Cr), all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 Cr), Sri Lankan sensation Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 Cr), and Shivam Dube (INR 12 Cr).
Ahead of the retention list announcement, MS Dhoni, at a promotional event, shared his wish to continue playing and enjoy “whatever last few years of cricket” he has left.
“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play. In our childhood, we used to go out to play at 4pm and enjoy the game. But when you play professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy cricket, just like a game.”
”It’s not easy. The emotions are there, commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” Dhoni was quoted as saying by Free Press Journal.
The mega auction for the 2025 IPL season is scheduled to be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
