WATCH: Aiden Markram Gets Frustrated After His Controversial Dismissal To Varun Chakravarthy

In the ongoing third T20I against India at SuperSport Park in Centurion, South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram aimed to anchor the innings after his team’s openers fell quickly. Chasing a substantial 220-run target, Markram began cautiously, intending to stabilize the chase and keep the South African side in contention.

As he settled in, he launched an aggressive counterattack, attempting to pressure Indian bowler Varun Chakravarthy, particularly in the 10th over, where he hit consecutive sixes, showcasing his powerful batting. However, an attempt to end the over with another big shot didn’t work out as planned, resulting in his dismissal.

Chakravarthy’s Crucial Breakthrough

On the last ball of the 10th over, Chakravarthy delivered a short ball that Markram tried to pull. However, he misjudged the timing, losing control over the shot and failing to connect well. The ball sailed to the deep mid-wicket region, where Ramandeep Singh made a straightforward catch, securing a crucial breakthrough for India.

Markram’s departure at 29 off 18 balls, including two sixes and a strike rate of 161, left South Africa in a challenging position at 84/4, further increasing the pressure in the high-stakes game.

India’s Strong Batting Display Sets a Tough Target

Earlier in the match, India posted an imposing total of 219 runs. Although opener Sanju Samson fell for a second consecutive duck, Abhishek Sharma (50) and Tilak Varma (107*) played key roles, combining for a 107-run stand for the second wicket. Varma’s impressive maiden T20I century came under pressure, as he navigated the innings despite wickets falling at the other end.

Ramandeep Singh added a finishing touch, contributing 15 runs in his debut innings to push India’s total to 219. With the series tied 1-1, this high-stakes match saw India establish a strong lead, applying pressure on South Africa’s chase.
