The ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) witnessed a bizarre incident on August 26 (Wednesday). Pakistan batsman Asif Ali almost hits Keemo Paul with the bat during Jamaica Tallawahs showdown against Barbados Tridents.
Meanwhile, CPL 2020 has already witnessed a few heated exchanges during the matches. With the games played behind closed doors, it has mostly gone unnoticed. However, this particular incident caught everyone’s attention and the match referee also noted it down.
Asif almost hits Keemo Paul with the bat
The incident took place in the 8th over of the Jamaica Tallawahs’ innings when Keemo Paul got the better of Asif Ali. The Pakistan batsman was out caught at long-on by Chris Green from miscued shot scoring only three runs from six deliveries.
Meanwhile, on his way, Ali had a fiery exchange with Paul and almost hits him with his bat. Soon after the West Indies pacer turned back to confront him on his way back to the dressing room.

The match referee is likely to reprimand Asif Ali for his actions. However, so far, there has been no confirmation of the same.
Meanwhile, speaking of the game, Jamaica Tallawahs won the game comprehensively with two overs to spare. Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman were the stars for the Jamaica Tallawahas with three wickets each as they restricted Guyana Amazon Warriors to 108 runs in 20 overs.
In pursuit, Nkrumah Bonner and Andre Russell took their side home comfortably. Bonner top-scored with 30 runs from 32 deliveries while the devastating all-rounder chipped in 23 runs. Russell is finally getting into his elements which is a piece of good news for the Tallawahs.
Jamaica Tallawahs are currently at fourth in the table with two wins and two losses in their first four games in the tournament.
