A video of star Pakistan batsman Babar Azam removing a fan’s hand from his shoulder has gone viral on social media. Reports indicate that the incident happened while he was gearing up for the Pakistan Champions One-Day Cup 2024, where he is set to play for the Stallions.
The 29-year-old came in for a lot of flak over his poor batting performance in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home, which Pakistan lost 2-0. In four innings, the right-hand batter registered scores of 0, 22, 31 and 11.
On Tuesday, September 10, he was again in the news for the wrong reasons as a clip of his interaction with a fan went viral. In the video, the star Pakistan batter is first seen obliging for a picture with a fan. However, when the latter attempted to place his arm around the cricketerâs shoulder, Babar reacted by pushing his hand away.

The future of Babarâs captaincy howls conflicting signals. Babar was the face of Pak team at T20 WC 2024 but they couldnât even make it past the group stages crashing out unexpectedly to host US in their pool matches.
Babar Azam has not reached a Test century since December 2022
In last few years, Babar undoubtedly stood amongst best batsman from Pakistan but at present he has been going through some tough times when it comes to Test cricket. The last time the 29-year-old hit a hundred in Test was in December 2022 when he scored 161 against New Zealand in Karachi city. Moreover, the right-handed batsman did not even score a fifty in Tests since scoring three figures against Kiwis.
Two things are clear from this video. One: Babar Azam has an unreal stardom and is easily the most popular cricketer of Pakistan. Two: cricket needs to be taken to more cities of Pakistan which I am glad is happening in Faisalabad with the Champions Cup. pic.twitter.com/TRutUtC1vc
