The Bangladesh team celebrated their second consecutive ACC U19 Asia Cup title with a lively dressing room dance to Dwayne Bravo’s ‘Champion’ after defeating India on Sunday, December 8, at the Dubai International Stadium.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted 198 runs with key contributions from Mohammad Shihab James (40), Md Rizan Hossan (47), and Md Farid Hasan Faysal (39), while India’s Yudhajit Guha, Chetan Sharma, and Hardik Raj took two wickets each.

India’s chase faltered as openers Ayush Mhatre (1) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (9) fell early, and despite starts from Andre Siddarth C (20), KP Karthikeya (21), and Mohamed Amaan (26), they lost half their side for 73 runs.

Bangladesh’s bowlers shone, taking wickets consistently to bowl India out for 139, securing a 59-run victory. Iqbal Hossain Emon and Md Azizul Hakim Tamim claimed three wickets each. The Bangla Tigers celebrated their triumph with a spirited dance to Dwayne Bravo’s ‘Champion’ in the dressing room.

This victory marked Bangladesh’s second consecutive U19 Asia Cup title, following their 2023 triumph against the United Arab Emirates.

Bangladesh’s Iqbal Hossain Emon wins Player of the Tournament

Iqbal Hossain Emon delivered an exceptional performance in the final, claiming three crucial wickets, which earned him the titles of Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament.

Throughout the competition, he showcased consistent brilliance with the ball, finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with an impressive tally of 13 wickets across five matches.

Bangladesh’s Al Fahad finished as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 12 scalps, closely following his teammate Iqbal Hossain Emon. India’s Chetan Sharma claimed the third spot on the list with nine wickets to his name.

On the batting front, Pakistan’s Shahzaib Khan emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament, amassing 336 runs in just four innings, which included two brilliant centuries.
