India captain Rohit Sharma and BCCI secretary Jay Shah unveiled Team India’s new jersey, as well as training and travel gear, ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. On Monday (May 13), the duo debuted the jersey in Ahmedabad.
In an attempt to join Dhoni in the exclusive group, Rohit will be looking to capture India’s first World Cup trophy since the country’s victory in the 50-over competition at home in 2011.
India’s long-standing and heavily criticized ICC trophy drought will come to an end with the title win; the team last won a trophy, the Champions Trophy, in 2013, also under Dhoni.
While Rohit did come dangerously close to ending the unwelcome run last year, they were taken aback by Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. India’s T20 World Cup campaign ended in the quarterfinals in Australia in 2022, therefore, this would be Rohit’s second time captaining the team.

The new T20 jersey for India, which will be worn at the 2024 T20 World Cup, was unveiled on Monday by BCCI president Jay Shah and captain Rohit Sharma. The USA and the West Indies will serve as the tournament’s hosts. It is set to begin on June 2 and India’s first match is set to take place in New York on June 5 versus Ireland.
On May 6, a video starring Rohit, spin bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav revealed the new jersey, which was sponsored by the BCCI and Adidas. Though the training outfit and tracksuit colours haven’t been disclosed before, the jersey went on sale in India on May 7 at 10 a.m. The tracksuit has lime borders and is navy blue, with black and lime streaks on the sides, similar to the training top.
Shah and Rohit were seen arriving at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and examining the clothing in a video that the BCCI had posted. Along with an Adidas representative, they also posed with the new jersey, and Rohit was later spotted autographing a jersey bearing his name.
India’s T20 World Cup campaign kicks off on June 5 in New York against Ireland. On June 9, they take on their bitter rivals, Pakistan, at the same location. The co-hosts of the USA and Canada make up the other two members of Group A.
