WATCH: BCCI To Make Crucial Decision On Comeback Of Jasprit Bumrah As Rare Video Shows Him Bowling In Nets

The BCCI is preparing to make an important announcement regarding Jasprit Bumrah‘s comeback, as his fitness improves rapidly, signalling a potential return to the Indian national team. Over the past year, Team India has faced several injuries to key players, adversely affecting their performance in crucial tournaments.

Batsmen Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have been sidelined due to injuries, with both of them unable to recover in time for the World Test Championship final. Rishabh Pant has been absent since the beginning of the year following a severe car accident. However, one of the longest injury absences has been that of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah’s last appearance for the team was in a T20I series against Australia in September of the previous year. His return was considered premature as he was struggling with a back injury. Eventually, he was ruled out of the T20 World Cup, where his absence was sorely felt as India exited in the semi-finals.

Jasprit Bumrah has been absent from international matches since September of the previous year

Bumrah underwent back surgery in March of this year and has been undergoing the recovery process at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, a recent report suggests that his long-awaited return may be imminent. The Indian Express reports that Bumrah could make a comeback during the team’s three-match T20I series in Ireland next month.

According to the report, Bumrah has been bowling around 8-10 overs per day and is showing full intensity during net practice sessions. In addition to Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, who underwent surgery for a lumbar stress fracture during the IPL earlier this year, has also resumed bowling.

Coinciding with the report on Bumrah’s recovery, a video has surfaced on Twitter showing Bumrah bowling in the nets without any visible signs of discomfort.

Bumrah’s last Test appearance for India was in July of the previous year against England. He also captained the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who had contracted Covid-19.

Following India’s emphatic victory in the first Test against West Indies, the team’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, acknowledged that the bowling attack has missed Bumrah’s presence.

“Injuries and the workload of bowlers are major concerns. Looking back at the last year and a half, Bumrah is a player we have greatly missed.”

“We haven’t decided who will play white-ball cricket and who will play red-ball cricket, but eventually, we have to give our bowlers breaks,” Mhambrey said.
