[WATCH]- Brett Lee Dismisses Kamran Akmal In The Opening Over Of WCL 2024 Game

Captain Brett Lee of Australia Champions led his team assertively during the powerplay of the World Championship of Legends match against Pakistan Champions. Lee grabed the wicket of Kamran Akmal, the opposing team’s opener, in the first actual over with an excellent swinging wide delivery.

Despite being 47 years old, Brett Lee has maintained excellent fitness, allowing him to bowl at pace. Although he retired from international cricket some time ago, Lee remains active in exhibition tournaments for retired cricketers.

Australia Champions appointed him as their captain for the inaugural World Championship of Legends, and Lee demonstrated his worthiness for the role with a stellar performance during the powerplay.

On the fifth delivery of the Pakistan Champions’ innings, Lee delivered an out-swinging ball wide outside the off stump. Kamran Akmal attempted to loft it over the cover area, but instead, the ball found its way directly to Dan Christian, who secured the catch without any errors.

It’s worth mentioning that Akmal scored a boundary off Lee’s bowling in that over, but the Australian veteran retaliated by dismissing his opponent shortly after.

During the powerplay, Brett Lee also took the wicket of Kamran Akmal’s opening partner, Sharjeel Khan

Lee continued his momentum after dismissing Akmal. The captain of Australia Champions returned for his second over during the powerplay and claimed the wicket of Sharjeel Khan. Sharjeel attempted to hit a ball from Lee towards the fine leg boundary, but Ben Cutting was positioned there and easily caught the ball.

Despite Brett’s two early wickets in the powerplay, Pakistan Champions successfully chased down Australia Champions’ target of 191 runs at Edgbaston. Younis Khan’s fifty and Misbah-ul-Haq’s unbeaten 46 were instrumental in achieving the target in 19.4 overs. Shahid Afridi sealed the victory with a boundary off the fourth ball of the last over.
