Jasprit Bumrah outfoxed Sam Konstas in the second innings of the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne cricket ground (MCG), taking the opener’s wicket in the seventh over for just eight runs, giving India their first breakthrough. India had earlier posted 369 in their first innings on Day 4, giving Australia a significant lead.
India completed their first innings at 369 early on Day 4, giving Australia a substantial lead. Konstas started his debut innings nervously but relieved the pressure with a series of boundaries off Jasprit Bumrah.
In the second innings, however, the young opener was under immediate pressure and couldn’t break free. Bumrah, having previously stated he could have dismissed Konstas multiple times in the first innings, kept his promise by delivering a brilliant ball to bowl the opener out.
Bumrah’s 139.7 kmph delivery swung back after pitching and went through the bat-pad gap. He also mimicked Konstas’ celebration from India’s first innings, where the opener had riled up the crowd with hand gestures.
