If anything that could stop Chennai Super Kings from losing this IPL 20201 game was Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell. But Sam Curran – known for his tricks and turns bowled a clever delivery to clean Russell round his stumps to Chennai back on top at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the Knight Riders were in all sorts of trouble when Andre Russell walked out in the middle. The Eoin Morgan-led side was reeling at 31 for five with all top guns back in the hut in pursuit of 221 runs. While many thought that it was the only time Kolkata lose the match, the big man arrived at the scene and took the entire space by storm.

Russell struck right, left, and center all around the park to reach his half-century in just 21 deliveries to give Kolkata Knight Riders some bleak chance. The big all-rounder struck three boundaries and six towering sixes to light up the stage before his innings came to an anticlimatic end.

Sam Curran leaves Andre Russell stunned

It was all Andre Russell in Wankhede Stadium which came to an unexpected end. The Jamaican-born all-rounder shuffled across, inside the line of this length ball, and then lets it go thinking it’s a leg-side wide. The ball crashed into the top-of-the-leg stump to end Kolkata Knight Riders’ hope in this game. Sam Curran was absolutely pumped as he was seen jumping in joy.

Earlier in the day, it was all Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis at the Wankhede. The latter started the carnage, took the back seat when the former exploded, and then ensured that he stayed till the end. Ruturaj made a breezy 64, there were handy cameos from Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni and then Jadeja finished it off in some style to post a mammoth 220 runs on the board.
