Delhi Capitals (DC) opener David Warner brought out the trademark ‘Pushpa’ celebration after he guide the team to an emphatic win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Wednesday. Chasing 115 runs, the Capitals cruised through in just 10.3 overs to secure a crucial win.
After an impressive work by the bowlers to restrict Punjab to 115, Warner and Prithvi Shaw run riot against the new ball. The pair recorded their fourth consecutive 50+ opening stand and brought up that landmark in just 3.3 overs. It didn’t stop there as they raced to 81 in the powerplay, making it the highest for the season.
Shaw got out after a well-made 41 off just 20 balls in the first over after the powerplay, but David Warner didn’t stop. He continued the carnage to chase down the total with 57 balls to spare. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 60, hitting at a strike rate of 200. The knock was decorated with 11 boundaries and one six.
Meanwhile, on his way back to the dugout after an impressive win, an elated David Warner replicated the trademark ‘Pushpa step.’ The step has gone viral on social media with many cricketers, replicating the steps. Most recently, Rajasthan Royals’ Obed McCoy did the step after guiding the team to an emphatic victory in the 20th over against Kolkata Knight Riders.

“Happy to have played with Shaw” – David Warner after win against Punjab
The veteran southpaw was a happy man after guiding Delhi to winning ways. Warner had a poor outing in the last year with Sunrsiers Hyderabad and the Australian superstar is making the most of the opportunities in IPL 2022. David Warner credited the bowler for putting up a show and set up the victory.
“I think the bowlers did a fantastic job and made it easier for us. We had to go hard in the powerplay during the chase. It was a different surface compared to the last night, but credit to our bowlers. Was grateful that we were able to get out of our rooms and play tonight. I was just trying to be positive and am happy to have played with Shaw,” Warner said at the end of the game.
