David Warner to represent Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022
In the recently concluded IPL 2022 Mega-auctions, David Warner was signed by the Delhi Capitals for Rs. 6.25 crores. Given Warner’s stellar IPL record, it was a bargain deal for the Capitals to acquire him for less than 10 Cr. On Day 1 of the mega-auctions, DC co-owner Parth Jindal had stated:
“I cannot believe that we got such a legend at Rs 6.25 crore”. The veteran batter would definitely be looking forward to form a deadly opening duo with young Prithvi Shaw, for the Delhi team.
In 150 IPL games, Warner has scored 5,449 runs, including four centuries and 50 half-centuries. He has more runs in the IPL than any other overseas player. Warner’s IPL career began with playing for the Delhi Daredevils, where he played from 2009 to 2013, before joining Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Australian opener won the Orange Cap three times during his time with SRH. He even led the Sunrisers to an IPL title in 2016.
