Simon Katich has relinquished his duties as Sunrisers Hyderabad assistant coach after the franchise ignored pre-auction plans at the IPL 2022 mega auction, as per a report in The Australian. Katich is also said to have been annoyed with the way the franchise has been managed of late.
Tom Moody, former Australian Test player and a World Cup winner, took up the job of head coach at SRH having previously been their director of cricket. It was Moody who had brought Simon Katich in as assistant coach.
However, the former Australian cricketer was disappointed with how the management functioned the auction on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. While there is no official word from the franchise, it is unlikely the former cricketer will reunite with his colleagues.

Meanwhile, Simon Katich has had coaching stints with a number of franchises in the IPL before. He has worked with both Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Sunrisers Hyderabad had finished bottom of the standings in the IPL 2021 season. The team underwent a radical change this time around, roping in plenty of fresh faces while giving captaincy to Kane Williamson on a permanent basis. They also retained the young duo from Kashmir Abdul Samad and Umran Malik.
At the auction, the franchise’s most-expensive player turned out to be West Indies’ wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran. They wanted to rope in Ishan Kishan but once he went out of budget, Pooran was the alternate option.
Some of the other big buys of the franchise were the likes of Romario Shepherd, T Natarajan, Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Sean Abbott, Rahul Tripathi, and Glenn Phillips.
