Team India made a swift comeback after Sri Lanka got off to a good start in the second ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal provided major breakthroughs to bring the Men in Blue back in the game.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the hosts got off to a steady start. Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka adopted a cautious approach and added 77 runs for the first wicket to set the tone for the batters to come.
But Yuzvendra Chahal picked two wickets in two deliveries in the 14th over to bring India back in the game. However, Avishka stood tall from one end to bring his fifty before Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of the set batsman.

Reeling at 124 for three, Sri Lanka was in need of a big partnership heading into the death overs. But Deepak Chahar dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva to once again bring India back on track. The Islanders added crucial runs before Yuzvendra Chahal removed skipper Dasun Shanaka before Deepak Chahar picked the crucial wicket of Wanindu Hasanranga.
Deepak Chahar produced a brilliant delivery to get the in-form batsman Wanindu Hasaranga out. He was fooled completely by Chahar’s wizardry. It was the first ball of a new spell and he started with a dipping knuckle ball. Hasaranga did not pick it and his feet remain stuck together, also played down the wrong line.
The ball landed around the yorker length and crashed into the base of the middle-stump giving Deepak Chahar his second wicket of the match.
