India all-rounder Deepti Sharma picked up the final wicket to complete a brilliant five-wicket haul as the Women in Blue defeated Pakistan by 64 runs in Match 6 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday, June 14. The decisive moment came on the last ball of the 17th over when Deepti delivered a full ball from around the wicket.
Nashra Sandhu attempted a sweep shot but failed to get proper elevation, eventually hitting the ball straight to Harmanpreet Kaur at short mid-wicket, giving Deepti her fifth wicket of the match. Watch the winning moment below:

While chasing 171, opener Muneeba Ali fought hard with a 41-run innings off 35 balls, but the remaining Pakistan batters struggled to make an impact against India’s disciplined bowling attack as the team was dismissed for 106 in 17 overs, losing their opening match of the tournament.
Deepti Sharma starred with the ball for India, producing her career-best T20I figures of 5/10 in four overs. Shree Charani also played a key role with an impressive spell of 3/21 from her four overs. Here are some twitter reactions:

For me it was Smriti Mandhana who managed to get India play those crucial middle overs where Pakistan bowled beautifully.
Smriti is the real MOM for today's game vs Pak as their batting is already fucked.
They will piss 10 times chasing this mammoth 170. pic.twitter.com/xrX6Pxbtwu— SAHILTACION (@sahilisdamn) June 14, 2026
Smriti Mandhana Stars With Record 34th T20I Fifty for India
After choosing to bat first, India suffered early setbacks with Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues departing cheaply during the powerplay against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then rebuilt the innings with a crucial 91-run partnership for the third wicket.
Mandhana brought up her 34th T20I half-century and finished as India’s top scorer with 68 off 44 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Harmanpreet contributed 36 from 35 deliveries, while Richa Ghosh added a quickfire 34 off 17 balls, including five fours and a six, helping India post 170/6 in 20 overs.
