Indian wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel secured a brilliant catch to give India A their first breakthrough in the 2024 Duleep Trophy match against India B at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, September 5. This match marked the start of the domestic season in India, with the other two teams also competing in Anantapur at the same time.
In the beginning, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran used a cautious approach as Shubman Gill who was captain of India A won the toss and preferred to dip first. They had to face pace bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep and Avesh Khan with new ball.
On the last ball of the 13th over bowled by Avesh Khan, Easwaran played an outrageous drive outside the off stump which is not his habit. The ball edged and went to slips but Jurel almost collided with the second slip while diving in front of the fielder at first slip yet managed to catch it.

After the first hour’s play, team score stood at 33-1 with the fall of India B captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal was joined by Musheer Khan of Mumbai at number three position in the batting order.
Dhruv Jurel will be eager to maintain his role as the top wicket-keeper throughout the home season and beyond
Jurel’s exceptional entry into red-ball cricket has proven highly effective. With KS Bharat struggling and Ishan Kishan absent, the 23-year-old seized the opportunity. He has excelled both with the bat and the gloves during the home series against England.
However, Jurel now faces tough competition as Ishan Kishan returns to red-ball cricket and Rishabh Pant is also anticipated to be considered. With Team India scheduled for extensive red-ball matches in the coming months, Jurel must sustain his performance to keep his place.
