England captain Ben Stokes achieved his 200th Test wicket by dismissing Kirk McKenzie during the ongoing match against West Indies at Lord’s. McKenzie’s dismissal, caught LBW by Stokes’ inswinger in the 12th over, left his team struggling at 17/2 on Thursday, July 11.
The dismissal occurred in the third ball of the 12th over when umpire Rod Tucker swiftly adjudged McKenzie LBW following Stokes’ impressive inswing delivery hitting the batsman’s pads. McKenzie opted for a review, but the ball tracking technology confirmed it pitched in line and would have hit the leg stump.
This dismissal meant McKenzie departed without scoring, leaving the West Indies team in a precarious position. Following this wicket, Ben Stokes achieved his 200th in Test matches. He also joins the rank of third player, with South Africa’s Jacques Kallis and West India’s Garry Sobers, to obtain both over 6,000 runs and 200 wickets in Test cricket.

Ben Stokes joins Sir Gary Sobers and Jacques Kallis with his 200th Test wicket in the ENG vs WI series opener
England captain Ben Stokes has joined an exclusive circle by grabbing his 200th Test wicket, removing Kirk McKenzie on Day 2 of the ongoing initial match on opposition to West Indies at Lord’s in London on July 11.
Stokes now becomes part of the likes of South African legend Jacques Kallis and West Indies great Gary Sobers, who also reached the milestone of 200 Test wickets together with over 6,000 runs in the format.
In addition to his 200 Test wickets, Stokes has amassed 6,320 runs in 103 Tests. Jacques Kallis leads the list with 13,289 runs and 292 wickets, while Gary Sobers compiled 8,032 runs and 235 wickets in his career.
Ben Stokes achieved his 200th Test wicket, noting his 300th global dismissal. The 33-year-old all-rounder seeks to overtake Sobers’ milestone. However, Stokes was dismissed by Gudakesh Motie for a low score in the initial innings of the opening Test match.
