India wrapped up their Super 12 campaign in the 2022 T20 World Cup on a high note with a stunning 71-run victory over Zimbabwe at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The victory helped India seal the top spot in Group 2 and in the semi-final clash they will take on England at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).
However, during the game, a young Indian fan invaded the security at the MCG to enter the playing arena as he wanted to meet Rohit Sharma. The youngster was seen in tears as he got close to the Indian captain but he did not get to talk to him as the security personnel took him out of the stadium as well.

As far as the match is concerned, India decided to bat first after winning the toss. They put up a total of 184 on the board with Suryakumar Yadav scoring 61 in just 25 balls. KL Rahul scored his second fifty in a row with a knock of 51 in 35 balls as well.
However, Team India put up a decent performance with the ball as the pacers did well. Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one wicket each while Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya got two wickets as well. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a three-wicket haul as well.
After the game, Rohit praised Suryakumar’s innings and stated that he is a player that takes the pressure off other players as well.
“What he’s doing for the team is remarkable. Playing and taking pressure off others – it’s quite important. We know his ability and it allows the other guys to take some time as well,” said Rohit in the post-match show.
“The confidence he shows when he bats, the dug-out can be at ease. He’s shown a lot of composure. This is something we expect from him. He’s going from strength to strength,” Rohit Sharma concluded.
