Cricket in India is far more than just a sport, and the unwavering passion of fans reflects their deep emotional connection with the game. Recently, a young admirer of Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya cycled for nearly 12 days to finally meet his idol.
Pandya recently moved to Bengaluru to train regularly at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence as he continues his injury rehabilitation and prepares for his white-ball future. The fan traveled from Odisha to Bengaluru on a bicycle, covering close to 2,000 km in around 10–12 days to meet Pandya face-to-face.
The incredible journey quickly went viral and eventually caught Pandya’s attention. Reports suggest the star all-rounder personally reached out to the fan and invited him to his farmhouse. During their meeting, the fan gifted an idol of Lord Jagannath to Hardik Pandya, who captains Mumbai Indians.
Pandya graciously accepted the offering, posed for pictures with the youngster, and spent some meaningful time interacting with him.

Reports suggest that Hardik Pandya arranged the youngster’s travel from Bengaluru to Odisha, ensuring he did not have to cycle back home. The thoughtful gesture has earned Pandya widespread appreciation from fans across social media.
Meanwhile, this is far from the first instance of fans going to extraordinary lengths to meet their cricketing idols. Over the years, several devoted supporters have made remarkable efforts to meet legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, among others.
Hardik Pandya Shifts To Bengaluru For Training At CoE
The Baroda-born cricketer has now permanently relocated to Bengaluru to train regularly at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. Over the past decade, Hardik Pandya had primarily been based in Mumbai, where he trained at Mumbai Indians’s Ghansoli facility.
However, daily travel from his Lower Parel residence to the training centre became increasingly difficult due to Mumbai’s heavy traffic. To avoid the exhausting commute and focus better on his recovery, Pandya chose to move to Bengaluru and continue training at the CoE while preparing for his white-ball comeback.
“Hardik has already permanently shifted to Bengaluru. He has rented a property on the outskirts of the city, close to the COE. He will be the first Indian cricketer to make the COE his permanent training base for the remainder of his career,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity via India Today.
“Hardik wanted to move out of Mumbai as commuting every day from his Lower Parel residence for training had become a problem. As a centrally-contracted cricketer, he has access to every facility at the COE, from injury management to skills training. Hence, he took the decision to make the COE his permanent base whenever he is not on IPL, state or national duty,” the source added.
