ICC T20 World Cup 2021 clash between Afghanistan and Pakistan saw thousands of fans trying to enter the Dubai International Cricket Stadium forcefully without tickets. Incidentally, Pakistan emerged as the winners in a nail-biting thriller by 5 wickets.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that more than 16000 tickets had been sold for the match between the two sides, but many ticketless supporters attempted forced entry. The unpleasant incident took place despite Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan’s plea to maintain peace.
“More than 16,000 tickets had been issued for tonight’s game between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, thousands of ticketless fans travelled to the venue and then attempted to force entry into the stadium,” said the ICC in its statement.
Despite that, fans from both Pakistan and Afghanistan tried to break into the stadium. Dubai Police had to come out in full force to bring the situation under control and ensure safety.

Afghanistan went down fighting in the game thanks to Asif Khan’s brilliance with the bat in the 19th over. With 24 runs required off the final two, Asif smacked four sixes in the penultimate over to make it three in three in Pakistan’s favour.
Afghanistan will now have to win all their remaining games to give themselves a chance of making it to the semifinals.
