Watch- Fielder Starts Celebrating A Catch; Realises It’s A Free-Hit 5 Seconds Later

A funny incident occurred during the ongoing European Cricket League (ECL) T10 match on 22 Feb (Tuesday) between Italy’s Brescia Cricket Club and Turkey’s Zeytinburnu Zafer at the Cartama Oval in Spain. The Zeytinburnu fielders were not at their best throughout Brescia’s innings.

In the 10th over, Abhishek Kumar bowled a short-pitched delivery to Babar Hussain which he attempted to pull for a six but unfortunately handed it straight to the fielder standing at deep midwicket. The fielder was super happy after taking the catch and celebrated the moment in a passionate way. His euphoria was short-lived, though, as the catch was taken on a free-hit delivery.

Even one of the on-air commentators forgot about the free-hit and started cheering in delight after the fielder took the catch. Overall, it was both a hilarious and heartbreaking cricket moment. The video posted by European Cricket went viral in no time on Social Media.

Brescia Cricket Club defeat Zeytinburnu Zafer by 162 runs

Talking about the match, Babar Hussain played a fabulous knock, scoring 102 not out, off 34 balls, which guided his team to a massive total of 187/3 in 10 overs. In response, the Zeytinburnu Zafer had a dismal outing with the bat. Eight of their batters got out for a duck and the side was bowled out for just 25 runs, gifting their opponents a massive 162-run victory. Javen Muhammad grabbed three wickets for Brescia, while Bashar Khan and Ahmadullah Safi each took two.

ECL is a professional T10 cricket league in which cricket clubs from all around Europe compete. It was launched in 2018 with the purpose of growing and popularising cricket across Europe. The tournament is played among clubs that have won domestic tournaments in their respective nations.
