Today we witness one of the greatest IPL matches of all time. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) managed to steal two crucial points after a last-ball victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the DY Patil Sports Academy.
Needing 54 runs off the last three overs, Rinku Singh turned the game on its head with a 40-run cameo. The equation came down to 21 off the last over and Rinku 18 runs off the first four balls in the last over to put Kolkata in the driver’s seat.
However, Marcus Stoinis came back superbly to pick up two wickets from as many balls to win the game. The cricketers jumped in joy to celebrate the emphatic victory. The support staff were also equally pumped up.
LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir showed his raw Delhi kind of emotions as he was seen abusing and shouting after his team won a close game and qualified for the playoffs. The former India cricketer was also seen hugging the cricketers in sheer joy.

Meanwhile, Lucknow batted first and didn’t lose even a single wicket the entire innings as Quinton De Kock scored an unbeaten 140* and KL Rahul anchored at the other end with a 68* to take their side to 210 after 20 overs.
“I should probably get paid more for games like these” – LSG captain KL Rahul
Lucknow captain Rahul was happy to end the league phase with a win after another nail-biting encounter. Incidentally, his side has been involved in a few thrilling encounters this season.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, KL Rahul said, “I should probably get paid more for games like this. We had missed games like this, in this season. Haven’t been many games that have gone down to the last ball, maybe some which went to the last over. Happy to be on the other side.”
Lucknow would now hope that Rajasthan Royals lose their next game so that their team finishes in the top 2 and can play the qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans on May 24 at the Eden Gardens.
