Team India registered an emphatic victory against New Zealand in the second ODI on Saturday, January 21 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The match witnessed fascinating performances from the likes of Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Washington Sundar. All-rounder Hardik Pandya’s catch to dismiss Devon Conway was one of the highlights of the day.
Batting first, Devon Conway opened the innings for New Zealand. His opening partner Finn Allen was dismissed early for a duck in the very first over. Conway too couldn’t contribute much and was dismissed in the tenth over, with New Zealand reeling at 15/4. Hardik Pandya bowled a good length delivery outside off stump. Conway got forward and hit the ball to the left of the bowler. The Indian all-rounder stuck his left-hand out, to complete a brilliant reflex catch.

We used the wicket rightly: Hardik Pandya
Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya had a good outing in the second ODI against New Zealand. He dismissed the likes of Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner in the match and conceded only sixteen runs in six overs. Speaking at the mid-innings break, the all-rounder said, as quoted by Cricbuzz,
“A brilliant day to be honest, we used the wicket rightly and everything went well for us. That wasn’t bad at all (on the return catch), my body is feeling better with every match, and it’s coming on nicely and timely as well. We hit the right areas, kept testing the batters, one of those days when the edges went to the fielders and we grabbed the catches.”
Team India has an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series. The third and final will take place on Tuesday, January 24 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The hosts will be looking for a clean sweep in the series.
