England‘s rising star Harry Brook maintained his impressive form during the ongoing first Test in Multan on Day 4 (Thursday, October 10). The right-handed batsman reached his maiden double century off 245 balls, featuring one six and 18 boundaries.

Brook achieved this milestone in the 126th over of England’s first innings. He nudged a back-of-a-length delivery from Naseem Shah to deep backward point for a single, marking the achievement. After removing his helmet, he raised his bat to acknowledge the cheers from teammates and the crowd, before receiving a hug from fellow Yorkshireman Joe Root.

Notably, Harry Brook has an impressive record in Pakistan, amassing 468 runs in five innings during the 2022/23 series. Earlier on Day 3, the 25-year-old scored his fourth century against Pakistan in successive Tests. He has already accumulated over 1,700 runs in 19 Tests, including six centuries.

Harry Brook smashed a triple-century

Harry Brook and Joe Root both scored double centuries, leaving Pakistan in disarray during the first Test against England. The duo has already forged a 400-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

At the time of writing, England was at 658/3 at lunch, leading by 102 runs, with Brook and Root still batting. Ben Duckett was the last player out, dismissed lbw by Aamer Jamal when the score was 249/3. Pakistan has gone wicketless for the second consecutive session.

Batting first, the hosts posted 556 in their first innings, with captain Shan Masood leading the way with 151 runs off 177 balls. Agha Salman and Abdullah Shafique also contributed with scores of 104* (119) and 102 (184), respectively. For England, Jack Leach was the standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse each took two.
