Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman Tristan Stubbs alleged that his teammate, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, has repeatedly declined to bowl to him during practice sessions throughout the IPL 2024 season.
Stubbs mentioned that despite his attempts to face Kuldeep in the nets, the spinner consistently refused. During an appearance on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Stubbs shared his experience when questioned about facing Kuldeep in practice. He shared:
“He won’t bowl to me. I’ve tried to go face him a few times. He won’t bowl. I think he is trying to keep it a mystery. But I’ve tried to face him. He is not having it.”

Tristan Stubbs also mentioned that although Kuldeep Yadav didn’t provide a specific explanation, Stubbs suspects the spinner intends to keep it undisclosed in case India and South Africa encounter each other during the T20 World Cup in June.
Tristan Stubbs is having a standout IPL 2024 campaign with DC
Having scored only 27 runs in four matches over two seasons with the Mumbai Indians (MI), Tristan Stubbs was released back into the auction pool before IPL 2024. Despite being acquired by the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the base price, he appeared to be more of a secondary choice.
Yet, with Harry Brook withdrawing from the season, Stubbs likely found the consistent chances he required, and he has thus far justified the trust placed in him by head coach Ricky Ponting and the support staff.
In 12 matches, the South African has amassed 318 runs at an impressive average of 53, boasting an outstanding strike rate of 188.17, including two half-centuries. He is progressively fulfilling his potential, and his reliability as a finisher is a key factor contributing to DC’s slim chances of reaching the IPL 2024 playoffs.
