Team India is gearing up for the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test at the Gabba, starting Saturday, December 14. After a 10-wicket defeat in the second Test in Adelaide, the visitors will aim to make a strong comeback in Brisbane.
While batting and bowling are crucial, fielding remains a vital focus for teams across all formats. Ahead of the third Test, Team India participated in a fun and innovative fielding drill led by fielding coach T Dilip.
The team was divided into three groups, with six targets set up. Each group had a maximum of 18 balls to hit and knock down the six targets, removing one for each successful hit.
“Today fielding, we’ll start off with team fielding. We have three groups. There are six targets, length and breadth different. There’s a knockout game. Each group has 18 maximum balls to bring down six targets. Once you hit a stump, it will be removed,” fielding coach T Dilip said in a video released by the BCCI.

Fielding coach T Dilip ultimately announced the second group as the winner. From the video, the team appeared to be in high spirits, embracing the process and having fun with the drill.
India’s Test history at the Gabba, Brisbane
As India heads into the third BGT 2024-25 Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, their Test record at the venue is far from impressive. They have played seven matches, with just one victory, five losses, and one draw.
However, India can draw inspiration from their lone Test win at the Gabba, achieved during their 2021 tour. In that memorable match, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill’s heroics led to a historic three-wicket victory in a thrilling run chase.
The visitors will aim to deliver a similar performance this time around.
