[WATCH] Indian Fans Tease Mitchell Starc With ‘IPL Banter’ During Adelaide Test

Australia’s ace pacer Mitchell Starc had a light-hearted exchange with Indian fans on Day 1 of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval on December 6. Starc, who was in sensational form with the ball, claimed his 15th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

During a break in his spell, Starc fielded near the boundary, where Indian fans greeted him with “Starcy loves IPL” chants. In a viral video, the chants shifted to “KKR,” prompting Starc to humorously make a money gesture with his hands.

Notably, Starc was recently purchased by Delhi Capitals (DC) for ₹11.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction.  Mitchell Starc handled the jokes well, smiling and giving the fans a thumbs-up. His friendly reaction made the crowd cheer for him. You can watch the video here:

India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first, making three changes to the XI with Rohit, Shubman Gill, and Ravichandran Ashwin returning. However, the innings began disastrously as Mitchell Starc trapped Yashasvi Jaiswal lbw on the first ball.

India bowled out for 180

KL Rahul (37) and Shubman Gill (31) steadied the innings with a 69-run stand for the second wicket, but Starc turned the tide with quick dismissals of Rahul and Virat Kohli (7). At the other end, Scott Boland struck, removing Gill and Rohit (3), both lbw, while Pat Cummins claimed Rishabh Pant’s wicket with a sharp bouncer.

India stumbled to 109/6 before Ravichandran Ashwin (22) tried to counter-attack but fell to an in-swinging yorker from Starc, who also bowled Harshit Rana (0) similarly. Starc completed his 15th Test five-wicket haul, finishing with brilliant figures of 6/48 in 14.1 overs, dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy (42) as the final wicket.
