Youngster Harshit Rana kept up the splendid performance when he took four wickets in six balls in a pink ball practice match against Prime Ministers XI on the 1st of December. This has come on the backdrop of his sensational Test debut at the Perth last week. Rana’s spell shifted the balance of the game in favour of India as the PM’s XI struggled to keep up.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma had decided to field first under cloudy skies in Canberra and it proved right when Mohammed Siraj got rid of Matt Renshaw. But more than that, for half an hour it rained, severing the game to 46 overs for each team. After the restart, Sam Konstas and Jack Clayton stabilized the innings; the latter got a spanking knock of half-century off 48 balls. The duo made position good for PM’s XI, taking them to 124/2 i 22 overs.
As if the PM’s XI was dominating at some point, Rana took four wickets to regain the overall advantage. Their fast bowler again broke the Australian middle order, putting India on the backfoot. Rana’s brilliant show has once again proved that he is one of the best future assets for India.

The practice match between India and PM’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra was trimmed to 46 overs per team as the first day of the event was abandoned due to rain. Batting first for PM’s XI lost some quick wickets but Sam Konstas and Jack Clayton added a decent 109-run partnership for the third wicket. For the first time, they were going about a 5 and a half run to an over but Harshit Rana came in and started a terrific over.
Rana cleaned up Clayton in the 23rd over of the innings and then in the next bowler, he dismissed Oliver Davies without scoring any run. Rana was not finished yet again; he got two more wickets in the first three balls of the 25th over. Skipper Jack Edwards made just one run before being dismissed, and wicketkeeper-batter Sam Harper was out for a duck from two balls. For from 131/2, PM’s XI were all out for 133/6.
The four-wicket haul for Rana seemed to be familiar when he bowled out in the first test match against the Australian team when he got Travis Heads, Mitchell Stark, Nathan Lyon, and Alex Carey. Prasidh Krishna also got a wicket and PM’s XI were bowled out for 138/7. Rana’s spell has once again shown that he is a bowler capable of taking wickets in future India tours.
