The young Jharkhand batter Ishan Kishan has finally found a place for himself in the playing 11 after an injury to Rohit Sharma which has ruled him out of the final ODI. He was picked for the final ODI against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Saturday, December 10.

Kishan has grabbed this opportunity with both hands. He has also thrown his name in contention for the opening slot in the ODI World Cup next year given that Shikhar Dhawan is going through a lean patch of form.

Ishan Kishan brought up his maiden century with a fierce sweep shot that raced to the boundary. He was heard screaming the words ‘Come On’ after reaching this landmark. Virat Kohli, who was at the non-striker’s end, also congratulated the batter with a big smile on his face.

Let’s take a look at the celebration of his maiden century:

Ishan Kishan becomes the fastest batter to reach ODI double century

Kishan didn’t stop there, only he went big and went on to score a double century. His knock comprised 24 fours and 9 sixes. He becomes the fourth batter after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma to bring up this landmark of 200 which is also the fastest one scored in this format.

Bangladesh who won the toss and opted to field will be regretting their decision due to the batting display put on by this young man who is striking the ball at 160.31. Both Kohli and Kishan strung a partnership of 290 runs where the scoring was dominated by the left-handed batter whereas Kohli was a mere spectator. On the other side, Virat Kohli is closing in on another century which will surpass World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting.

Kishan’s wonderful batting display was brought to an end by Taskin Ahmed who was caught by Litton Das. This knock by him has put India in a position to post a massive total against the hosts, Bangladesh.
