[WATCH]- Jasprit Bumrah Cleans Up Stokes In Style To Give India Perfect Start On Day 2

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah struck a vital blow by dismissing England skipper Ben Stokes early on Day 2 (Friday, July 11) of the third Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, taking place at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Stokes had driven the first ball of the 86th over for a boundary, but Bumrah responded immediately.

Coming from around the wicket, he delivered a length ball outside the off stump that jagged back in sharply. It pierced through Stokes’ defence and knocked the top of off stump out of the ground in a sensational dismissal. You can watch the video here:

The England captain made 44 runs from 110 balls, hitting four boundaries during his stay. His departure saw the home side reduced to 260 for 5 in 85.2 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Fiery Spell Puts India In Command On Day 2 Of 3rd Test

After electing to bat in the third Test at Lord’s, England closed Day 1 at 251/4 after 83 overs, with Joe Root unbeaten on 99 and Ben Stokes on 39. Root reached his 37th Test century with a boundary off the first ball on Day 2, moving to fifth on the all-time list for most Test hundreds.

India struck back early as Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up England captain Stokes for 44 in just the third over of the day with a brilliant delivery. In the very next over, Jamie Smith was given a lifeline when KL Rahul dropped him in the slips off Mohammed Siraj.

Bumrah, however, kept the pressure on. He dismissed Root for 104 in his next over, claiming the English star for the 11th time in Test cricket. On the very next ball, he removed Chris Woakes for a golden duck, triggering a sharp collapse that saw England slump from 260/4 to 271/7.
