[WATCH]- Jasprit Bumrah Dismisses Usman Khawaja And Marnus Labuschagne Early On Day 5 Of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Team India’s pace ace Jasprit Bumrah struck early with the new ball on Day 5 (Wednesday, December 18) of the third Border-Gavaskar series Test against Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane.

The right-arm quick dismissed Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne cheaply, preventing Australia from gaining early momentum as they did in the first innings. Khawaja’s wicket came in the third over when Bumrah induced a drive from the left-hander.

The ball brushed the pad and clipped the top of the off stump, ending the 38-year-old’s stay after he had struck two boundaries. Labuschagne, meanwhile, managed just one run before chasing a wide delivery outside off-stump. The edge carried to Rishabh Pant, who safely pouched it behind the stumps.

Khawaja and Labuschagne were crucial in handling the new ball during the first innings in Brisbane but failed to convert their starts into significant scores. Khawaja’s form, in particular, has been disappointing this series.

Jasprit Bumrah overtakes Kapil Dev to set a remarkable record

Ahmedabad-born Jasprit Bumrah has now claimed 52 wickets in Australia, surpassing Kapil Dev’s 51 to become India’s leading wicket-taker in the country. This also marks the highest number of wickets taken by any Indian bowler in a single country outside India.

Bumrah has tormented Australia throughout the series, taking 20 wickets in just over two Tests. He began with a five-wicket haul in the first innings in Perth, followed by three in the second innings, earning the Player of the Match award as India secured a 295-run victory.

The 31-year-old picked up four wickets in Adelaide and six in Brisbane’s first innings. He is on track to finish the series as the leading wicket-taker.
