[WATCH]- Jayden Seales Dismisses Kyle Verreynne To Secure A Five-Wicket Haul In WI vs SA Test

Kyle Verreynne’s resistance at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on Day 3 of West Indies vs South Africa‘s second Test was brought to an end by Jayden Seales for 59 runs on Saturday, August 17. In South Africa’s second innings, the Proteas were bowled out for 246 runs after playing 80.4 overs with Seales claiming 6 wickets for 61 runs in 18.4 overs.

South Africa resumed their second innings on Day 3 of the Test match at 223-5 as it was when Verreynne was batting on 50 while Wiaan Mulder had 34 runs against his name. Mulder was trapped lbw by Jomel Warrican for his overnight score in the first over of the innings. Seales then dismissed Keshav Maharaj for a duck.

The Proteas tailender looked to clip a length delivery but ended up chipping a catch to short midwicket. Seales completed a memorable five-wicket haul that happened for only a second time throughout his career in Test cricket by cleaning up Verreynne’s wicket.

The young fast bowler delivered one such ball from wide of the crease and slanted it into an inviting fullish delivery challenging Verreynne’s drive as he stood well-settled within his crease.

Eventually, the 56th ball turned out to be fatal for him as he was cleanly liberated from all his worries about losing that match and any future matches he might have had against South Africa ‘A’ team again or any other team at all.

The Keeper-batter Verreynne managed to score 59 runs in 78 balls and spent 116 minutes on the crease hitting eight fours during that time. Thereafter, Kagiso Rabada was dismissed for six after being brilliantly caught in the slip by Kavem Hodge off Warrican’s bowling. In South Africa’s innings, Seales took a brilliant return catch from Nandre Burger and sent him for a duck.

West Indies lose Mikyle Louis while chasing 263, following Seales’ six-wicket haul

Seales was a hero on Day 3 of Guyana’s first match as he helped West Indies chase 263 runs to win the second Test. In the fifth over, Rabada bounced off Mikyle Louis for 4 runs. Rabada managed to get a long ball outside off that diverted slightly inwards and found its way at third slip. After lunch, the hosts were 43-1 with captain Kraigg Brathwaite batting on 17 alongside Keacy Carty who scored 15.

Earlier on West Indies did well to restrict South Africa to just 160 runs during their first innings after they chose to bat first. Shamar Joseph had an impressive spell taking five wickets for only 33 runs while Seales took three wickets giving away 45 runs.

However, the former champions took revenge on them by dismissing the Windies at 144 runs only. Mulder had four wickets for twenty-two runs and Burger got three wickets at forty-nine runs. The first Test match of the two-match series held in Trinidad was drawn.
