Ahead of their clash with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR) shared an exciting clip on social media showcasing 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi facing England speedster Jofra Archer in the nets. The video, posted on RR’s official X handle, highlights Archer delivering sharp bouncers and challenging deliveries to test the young batter.
Vaibhav, however, displayed great composure under pressure. He adeptly ducked under bouncers and confidently played shots against Archer’s intimidating pace. Though he hasn’t yet debuted in the IPL, Vaibhav’s fearless attitude left fans impressed. RR captioned the moment aptly: “Vaibhav vs Archer. Where else if not the IPL?!”

A Remarkable Journey at Just 14 Years Old
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar, created history by becoming the youngest player ever signed in the IPL. The Royals picked him up for Rs 1.1 crore during the 2024 mega auction, surprising many. He had already made headlines by debuting in first-class cricket for Bihar at the tender age of 12 years and 284 days.
Vaibhav’s talent shone through in the India U-19 vs Australia match in Chennai, where he hammered a century off just 58 balls. He also played in the SMAT 2024 T20 tournament, although his debut wasn’t impactful. Additionally, in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024-25, he finished as the seventh-highest run-scorer, amassing 176 runs in five games with a top score of 76*.
RR vs RCB, High-Stakes Match in Jaipur
The match against RCB marks RR’s first home fixture at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur this season. With two wins and three losses, Rajasthan currently sits seventh on the points table. Their previous match ended in a defeat to Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. RCB, meanwhile, holds the fourth spot with three victories and two defeats, totaling six points.
Their last game saw them fall short against Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru. While Jofra Archer has claimed five wickets from five matches with best figures of 3/25, all eyes are now on how soon Vaibhav Suryavanshi will get his chance to debut and possibly make history once again. His face-off with Archer might just be a glimpse of what’s to come.
