The Indian cricket team got off to a disastrous start against South Africa in Match 30 of the 2022 T20 World Cup on Sunday, October 30 at the Perth Stadium. Pacer Lungi Ngidi wreaked havoc as he pushed India on the backfoot reducing them to 42/4 in around eight overs. Things got worse, as Ngidi took his fourth wicket to send back Hardik Pandya, thanks to an outstanding piece of work on the field by Kagiso Rabada.

Hardik Pandya walked out to bat following Deepak Hooda’s dismissal. The Indian hopes relied on him, to bail the team out of trouble. However, Rabada’s stunning catch shattered the hopes, as Hardik couldn’t do much. He was dismissed for just two runs off three deliveries in the ninth over.

Lungi Ngidi bowled a banged-in short delivery, and Hardik Pandya swiveled across to play the pull shot, rolling his wrists over. The ball went flat but did not go all the way. Instead, it was dying down onto the long leg, when Rabada ran in and dived forward to complete an outstanding catch.

Earlier in the innings, Kagiso Rabada picked another brilliant catch to dismiss Virat Kohli. Lungi Ngidi bowled a similar short delivery, and Kohli played the pull shot. The ball took the top edge and went towards the long leg. Rabada charged in and completed a fine catch. Kohli had to walk back for just twelve runs in the innings.

Suryakumar Yadav powers India to a respectable total

After an early burst of wickets, Suryakumar Yadav came to the rescue for Team India at the Perth Stadium against South Africa in the 2022 T20 World Cup. India was reeling at 49/5 at one point in time. Suryakumar Yadav slammed 68 runs to take the team to 133. He slammed six boundaries and three sixes in this innings.

Lungi Ngidi finished the innings with four wickets conceding 29 runs at an economy rate of 7.2. Meanwhile, Wayne Parnell took three wickets in four overs, conceding just 15 runs. South Africa needs 134 runs to win their second match of the tournament.
