Kaviya Maran, the daughter of Sunrisers Hyderabad co-owner Kalanithi Maran, has become an internet sensation. Kaviya is no longer a new face on the Indian cricket scene. Aside from being spotted in stadiums during IPL matches, what brought her more attention was her attendance at the bidding war for her team SRH during the IPL auctions over the years. However, Kaviya’s fan base has expanded beyond India. Kaviya Maran received a marriage proposal from a fan during a recent T20 match in South Africa, which is now going viral on social media.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape, a sister franchise of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad, faced Paarl Royals on Thursday at the Boland Park ground in Paarl. Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the toss and chose to bowl first. They got off to a good start, with Paarl Royals scoring 60 for 3 at one point after 8 overs.
This is when the camera pans to a fan in the audience who is holding a placard that reads, “Kavya Maran, will you marry me?” The video was quickly shared by the SA20’s official Twitter account and went viral.

In the match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Paarl Royals, the former won by a five-wicket margin.
Paarl Royals could only manage 127 for 7 in 20 overs, while Sunrisers Eastern Cape chased the total down in 18.2 overs. It was Kaviya Maran’s third victory in five matches in the ongoing inaugural SA20 tournament.
Pretoria Capitals lead the points table, with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in second place.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape had done the double over the MI Cape Town in their previous two matches prior to their impressive victory over the Paarl Royals. The Sunrisers will be eager to extend their winning streak when they face the Joburg Super Kings on Saturday, January 21.
