Veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard, at the age of 38, showed the cricketing world that his power-hitting abilities remain as lethal as ever. Playing for Trinbago Knight Riders against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Pollard produced a whirlwind innings that had fans on their feet.
Coming in at number six, he turned the momentum with an explosive knock of 54 runs off just 18 deliveries, striking five fours and five towering sixes.

His innings stood out not only for its impact but also because he achieved his fastest-ever fifty in CPL history, reaching the mark in just 17 balls. This remarkable feat placed him alongside big hitters like Evin Lewis and David Miller, who have also scored CPL half-centuries in the same number of deliveries.
A Record-Breaking Milestone
Pollard’s blistering half-century etched his name further into the records of the Caribbean league. The fastest fifty in CPL history still belongs to Andre Russell, who reached the mark in 14 balls, followed by JP Duminy’s 15-ball effort. Pollard’s knock, though just behind these, was special because of the timing and execution. In the final over of Trinbago’s innings, facing Romario Shepherd, Pollard turned up the heat.
He dispatched the bowler for two consecutive sixes, then a four to bring up his fifty on the penultimate ball, and ended the over with another boundary. This fiery finish ensured his team ended with a competitive total of 167/5, with his personal brilliance shining brightest.
Heroics Overshadowed by Defeat
Despite Pollard’s fireworks, Trinbago Knight Riders could not convert his heroics into a victory. The Guyana Amazon Warriors held their nerve during the chase, eventually crossing the line with three wickets in hand. The key contributor for Guyana was Shai Hope, who anchored the innings with an unbeaten 54 off 46 deliveries, guiding his team to a memorable win.
For Pollard, however, the innings was still a standout moment in the tournament. It marked his third half-century of the season, after scoring two quickfire fifties—65 off 29 balls against both St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Kings earlier in the competition.
While the result didn’t favour Trinbago, Pollard’s knock reminded everyone of his reputation as one of the most dangerous finishers in T20 cricket. Even at 38, his ability to dominate bowling attacks proves that age has done little to dull his destructive instincts.
