Ramesh Kumar was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 20 lakh during the IPL 2022 mega-auctions. During the accelerated round of bidding on Day 2, KKR bought the hard-hitting batter.
One surprising and unknown fact about Ramesh Kumar is that he is yet to play professional cricket. He is a well-known tennis ball cricket player and hails from Punjab’s Mansa town. In the tennis-ball cricket circuit, he is famous by the name ‘Narine Jalalabadiya.’
A video of Ramesh blasting a half-century in 10 balls, has gone viral on social media just after he got signed by the Knight Riders. In the video clip, he can be seen hammering sixes after sixes, in a local tennis-ball tournament. Reportedly, Ramesh had given trials to KKR before the auctions and the people present there were very impressed by his talent. In addition to his batting skills, he can also bowl left-arm spin.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders purchased 21 players during IPL 2022 mega-auction. Pat Cummins, Nitish Rana, Shivam Mavi, and Sheldon Jackson, all were re-signed by KKR in the auctions. Shreyas Iyer (12.25 crore) was KKR’s most expensive buy during the auction. The flamboyant batter is almost certain to lead the team this year. The franchise had retained Andre Russell (12 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (8 crore), Venkatesh Iyer (8 crore), and Sunil Narine (6 crore) ahead of the auctions.
