Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne narrowly avoided dismissal on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test. An inside edge off his leg sent the ball toward the stumps, but it narrowly missed, allowing him to continue his innings.
A key moment in the game occurred during the 46th over bowled by Akash Deep. Labuschagne, trying to defend the full-length delivery from the right-arm pacer, could only manage to make contact with the inside half of the bat, edging the ball. The ball struck the back of his leg and drifted into his blind spot.
By the time he turned around to attempt to prevent the ball from hitting the stumps, it was almost too late. However, the ball just bounced over the bails. Labuschagne, visibly relieved, placed a hand on his helmet, while Kohli, in disbelief, collapsed to the ground.

Labuschagne is likely the final challenge India faces in the innings, as Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliant spell in the second session had reduced Australia to 91-6 at one point.
Just before the near-stumps mishap, Labuschagne was given another chance when Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped a straightforward catch in the slip cordon. In the 40th over by Akash Deep, Labuschagne had edged the ball behind the wickets, only for the Indian youngster to drop an easy catch, much to Rohit Sharma’s frustration.
Labuschagne’s fortune finally ends as Siraj dismisses him LBW for 70
The right-handed batter’s determined innings came to an end when Mohammed Siraj struck with the opening delivery of his spell, trapping him LBW.
Labuschagne reviewed the decision after the on-field umpire ruled him out, but the DRS confirmed the umpire’s call, showing the ball would have hit the stumps. Labuschagne was dismissed for 70 runs from 139 balls, leaving Australia at 148-7 with a lead of 253 runs.
