Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj thanked the Hyderabad crowd after supporting and cheering him in the victory parade and felicitation ceremony in Mumbai. Siraj arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Friday, greeted by a huge number of enthusiastic fans.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival, Siraj expressed his joy by saying: “We needed to wait 11 years for this moment so I am virtually glad. India clinched their first ICC trophy in 11 years with a 7-run win over South Africa in Barbados, their ultimate triumph being the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 beneath MS Dhoni’s leadership.”
Siraj, alongside the Indian team, landed in New Delhi from Barbados on Thursday. The team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his house in Delhi. Afterwards, the group travelled to Mumbai where they were welcomed with an open-pinnacle bus parade that commenced from Marine Drive. The parade noticed a big turnout of fans who celebrated India’s T20 World Cup victory with dancing and singing songs.
During the parade, players proudly displayed the trophy and stated the fans’ unwavering support for the duration of the event. Some fans even climbed trees to have a glimpse of their players as the bus went past them. The celebrations culminated at the Wankhede Stadium, where Indian cricketers danced to the beats of ‘dhol’ with cheering fans.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honoured the World Cup-triumphing team with a cheque of Rs 125 crore at Wankhede Stadium. The players engaged with fans distributed balls, signed autographs, and took selfies, creating memorable moments for all of them.
The celebrations in Hyderabad continued as Siraj made his way through the city, visiting local landmarks and cricketing academies where young fans eagerly awaited his arrival. The city was adorned with banners and posters celebrating the team’s historic victory.
Siraj also participated in a special event organized by the Telangana Cricket Association, where he shared his journey and inspired aspiring cricketers with his story of hard work and dedication. The overwhelming support and love from his hometown highlighted the pride and joy felt by the entire nation following India’s remarkable achievement on the global stage.
