MS Dhoni has started practicing wicketkeeping again in the nets before the big Indian Premier League2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
In the 33rd match, Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians will take on Rajat Patidar’s Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 23.
Before this important match, Dhoni returning to wicketkeeping practice has reduced worries about his fitness. He had missed CSK’s first six matches this season because of a calf injury he suffered before the tournament began.

MS Dhoni resumes wicketkeeping practice in nets ahead of return
Chennai Super Kings shared a video of MS Dhoni practicing on their official social media, with the caption: “Rule No. 1: Don’t step out when Thala is keeping wickets. Rule No. 2: Read Rule No. 1 again.”

MS Dhoni’s IPL stats and records
MS Dhoni is seen as one of the best players in Indian Premier League history and has built an impressive record with consistent performances. The 44-year-old has played 278 matches and batted in 242 innings, scoring 5,439 runs at a strike rate of 137.45 and an average of 38.30.
He hasn’t scored a century yet but has made 24 half-centuries. In IPL 2025, Dhoni had an average season. He played 14 matches (13 innings) and scored 196 runs with a strike rate of 135.17 and an average of 24.50. So far in IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings have played six matches, winning two and losing four.
They are currently in eighth place with four points and a net run rate of -0.780. CSK are going into their next match at Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians after a close 10-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.
