Although the novel coronavirus threat looms over the future of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings’ training sessions are going in full swing. Many star cricketers have already joined the camp including skipper MS Dhoni. The legendary cricketer has looked in great touch and will be desperate to set the stage on fire.

Meanwhile, the 38-year-old had made him unavailable from cricket since India’s ouster from the semifinals of the ICC World Cup. The cricketer from Ranchi had poor returns in the premier tournament in England and decided to take a sabbatical.

Dhoni returned to training on March 2 in a bid to prepare for the 13th season of the cash-rich league. He has looked in the groove right from the onset amidst huge turnouts at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, who has come to see their favourite star train. MS Dhoni hasn’t disappointed the fans looking into a rhythm and timing the ball from the middle of the bat.

Recently, he struck a swashbuckling century in the training game to show glimpses of his glorious past. While the scorecard is not available, it is confirmed that Dhoni scored 123 off 91 deliveries and looked comfortable throughout the innings. It will certainly light up the eyes of the Super Kings’ fans, who are eagerly waiting for their ‘thala’ to take the field in the yellow jersey.

IPL likely to take place closed door

It is now a strong possibility that IPL 2020 will take place behind closed doors, in light of the coronavirus threat, with the Indian government indicating it will not stop sporting events from taking place as long as they adhere strictly to health-ministry guidelines discouraging mass gatherings.

However, the participation of the overseas cricketers from the start of the tournament looks in jeopardy with Indian Government issuing a directive cancelling all visas till April 15 due to coronavirus pandemic.
