[WATCH]- Musheer Khan Dismisses Akash Deep’s Valient Innings With Quick Reflexes In The Duleep Trophy Match

On Day 4 of the Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, September 8, Musheer Khan displayed quick reflexes to run out Akash Deep. India B secured a 76-run victory with this dismissal. Akash scored 43 runs off 42 balls, including four sixes and three boundaries.

In the 53rd over of India A’s second innings, Navdeep Saini bowled a short length ball which Akash Deep tried to defend but got out of control. As he tried inching for a run, Musheer at short leg picked it up and made an excellent direct hit and hence the ball went like a bullet into his gloves.

Akash Deep was unable to return to his crease after that because of which India A were all out for 198 on their fourth innings while chasing 275.

Sharing the video, the BCCI captioned the post:

“Akash Deep’s fighting knock of 43(42) comes to an end as he’s run out by a quick-thinking Musheer Khan. India B beat India A by 76 runs. A fantastic win.”

The Duleep Trophy contest saw Musheer Khan thanked his father after being named Player of the Match due to his 181 runs in the opening innings. He termed it all as a chance that was given to him as a result of the experience he had acquired from playing in the Ranji Trophy.

Mumbai’s batsman further revealed that the first innings saw him in partnership with Navdeep Saini for 205 runs. After the game, he told:

“(Translated from Hindi) My preparation was really good with my father. I had done well in Ranji so I knew I could get an opportunity here. Every ball I was encouraging him from the non-striker’s end to play it out (his partnership with Saini).”

Musheer also spoke about his first-hand experience at short-leg:

“I think it was only the first or second time for me to take catches at short leg.”

The upcoming match of India B will take place against India C at Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur from 12th September 2020. However, India A stands ready to clash with its counterpart India D at ACA ADCA Ground located in Anantapur on that same day.
