[WATCH]- New South Wales Captain Moises Henriques Dismissed In A Strange Way In The 2023 Marsh Cup

New South Wales captain Moises Henriques experienced a peculiar dismissal in the 2023 Marsh Cup in Sydney on November 4. He was out as the ball struck the batter before being caught by a fielder.

The incident occurred in the 28th over of New South Wales’ innings. Mahli Beardman bowled a full delivery, and Henriques attempted a straight drive. During this, the ball hit the non-striker Blake McDonald on his helmet while he was trying to shield his face with his gloves.

At the same time, the ball headed towards Hamish McKenzie positioned at mid-on. Consequently, the 18-year-old Beardman secured his first wicket during his Marsh Cup debut. You can watch the video here:

Rule said:

“The striker is out Caught if a ball delivered by the bowler, not being a No ball, touches his/her bat without having previously been in contact with any fielder, and is subsequently held by a fielder as a fair catch,” according to rule 33.1 of the MCC Laws of Cricket.
