Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy‘s parents and sister surprised him after his gritty century on Day 3 of the fourth Test against Australia in Melbourne (Saturday, December 28). The BCCI shared a heartfelt video of the emotional reunion on social media.
Reddy, who had impressed with the bat in the first three Tests, scored an unbeaten 105 at the MCG, marking his maiden Test hundred. His knock helped India recover from precarious positions at 191/6 and 221/7 in reply to Australia’s 474, with the milestone reached via a boundary off Scott Boland.
The 21-year-old’s father, overcome with emotion, tearfully shared in the BCCI video:
“Nitish played really well and I’m feeling very proud today. We have struggled a lot. We are thankful to the Indian team.”

Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy shared a post on his official social media account, dedicating his maiden Test century to his father, Mutyalu Reddy. The batter remains unbeaten at the crease in the ongoing fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Nitish Kumar Reddy walked out to bat early on Day 3 of the fourth Test of the five-match series on Saturday, December 28. He had made significant contributions with the bat in the first two Tests, scoring 41 and 38 at Perth, and 42 in both innings at Adelaide. In the third Test at the Gabba, he batted once and scored 16 runs.
Reddy came to the crease after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal in the fourth Test. He reached his half-century in the second session before pushing on to his maiden century with a boundary. Following this, the 21-year-old shared an Instagram story dedicating the milestone to his father.
