[WATCH]- Nitish Reddy Falls To Scott Boland For A Golden Duck In The 5th Test Of BGT 2024-25

Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy fell for a golden duck during the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. The match, which carries crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points, has been a gripping contest.

Reddy’s dismissal occurred in the 57th over of India’s first innings. Scott Boland, in fine form, first dismissed Rishabh Pant (40) with a short ball that was caught at mid-on. On the very next delivery, Boland bowled a good-length ball outside the off-stump, which seamed away after pitching.

Reddy could only edge it to Steve Smith at second slip, leaving India struggling at 120/6. You can watch the video here:

Nitish Reddy’s historic century in the previous match, the first by an Indian No. 8 on Australian soil, kept the visitors in contention until the final day. However, his form faltered in subsequent games, with scores of just 1 and 0.

BGT 2024-25: Scott Boland reaches the milestone of 50 Test wickets

Scott Boland has been sensational in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series, delivering outstanding performances. In the first session, he claimed the crucial wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) and Virat Kohli (17).

With consecutive wickets of Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy, Scott Boland reached the milestone of 50 Test wickets in his 13th match. Notably, at 35 years and 267 days, he became the oldest seamer to achieve this feat since Bevan Congdon (37 years and 10 days) in 1975.

Boland made his Test debut against England in December 2021, where his extraordinary figures of 6/7 helped Australia secure a victory by an innings and 14 runs.

However, opportunities have been limited for Boland in recent years due to the dominance of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Hazlewood’s injury in the 2024-25 BGT series opened the door for Boland to once again showcase his skills.
