[WATCH]- Oval Invincibles’ Mady Villiers Grabs A Stunner Against Trent Rockets In The Hundred Women’s 2024

The 31st game of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2024 was held on Wednesday, August 14 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, and Oval Invincibles’ player Mady Villiers took a stunning catch to dismiss Bryony Smith who was the opener for Trent Rockets.

This happened during the eighth ball of Trent Rockets’ innings. Marizanne Kapp bowled a back-of-the-length ball outside off. Bryony Smith attempted to move it over leg-side but lacked the power. Mady Villiers dove fully to her left with one hand reaching out to grab hold of what seemed impossible – as she fielded short mid-wicket.

Bryony Smith’s performance was not commendendable because she got out for only 1 run and it was her wicket which made the score stand at 2/2 for the Trent Rockets after eight balls had been bowled.

The Oval Invincibles’ bowlers delivered an outstanding performance, limiting Trent Rockets to a low score

Lauren Winfield-Hill, the captain of Oval Invincibles called for a toss and preferred to bowl first. An early breakthrough was made when Marizanne Kapp took the wicket of Grace Scrivens for a duck off five balls. A blinder by Mady Villiers sent Bryony Smith back soon after.

Rachel Slater then picked up an important wicket of Nat Sciver-Brunt, the captain of Trent Rockets, on her fourth ball. The right-handed batter went out for four balls and zero runs as Natasha Wraith along with Ashleigh Gardner made 43 runs in 31 balls before Kapp dismissed Natasha Wraith (14).

Gardner played a remarkable innings scoring 43 runs from just 26 balls before being dismissed by Mady Villiers with Trent Rockets having just 60/5 after 52 balls.

At the close of the innings, Sophia Smale had two wickets to her name and thus dashed the Trent Rockets’ hope to score a respectable number of runs on the board. Rockets made 91/8 in 100 balls allocated to them.

Marizanne Kapp was the most effective bowler for Oval Invincibles, capturing three wickets at a cost of just eight runs in her spell which lasted 20 balls. On the other hand, Rachel Slater and Sophia Smale clinched two wickets each.
