[WATCH] Pakistan’s Shocking Fielding Blunder vs Bangladesh Goes Viral

The Pakistan cricket team’s fielding issues persisted during the second Test match against Bangladesh on Saturday in Rawalpindi. Saud Shakeel’s dropped catch highlighted these problems. Pakistan had been dismissed for 274 in their first innings, and Shakeel had a crucial chance to secure an early breakthrough.

Mir Hamza’s delivery moved away from Bangladesh’s opener Shadman Islam, who edged the ball towards the fifth slip, but Shakeel failed to hold on to the straightforward opportunity. Captain Shan Masood’s frustration was evident, and commentators, including Richard Kettleborough, were quick to note that it was a ‘regulation catch.’

Bangladesh’s Strong Position

The video of Shakeel’s missed catch has since gone viral on social media. On the second day of the Test, Bangladesh’s off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a pivotal role by taking five wickets, which helped dismiss Pakistan for 274. This performance marked Mehidy’s 10th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, highlighting his exceptional form. Bangladesh ended the day at 10-0, with opener Shadman Islam surviving the early scare of a dropped catch by Saud Shakeel off the very first ball of their innings.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz Shines

Bangladesh’s bowlers, particularly Mehidy Hasan Miraz, were instrumental in putting the team in a commanding position. Mehidy dismissed Pakistan captain Shan Masood for 57 and opener Saim Ayub for 58, following a promising start for Pakistan at 99-1 at lunch. Mehidy, who had previously delivered match-winning figures of 4-21 in Bangladesh’s 10-wicket victory in the first Test, added significant value to his performance.

He claimed the wickets of Khurram Shahzad (12), Mohammad Ali, and Abrar Ahmed, finishing with 5-61. He was well-supported by fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who contributed 3-57.

Bangladesh’s strong performance with both bat and ball puts them in an advantageous position as the Test progresses. Pakistan’s fielding lapses and the effective bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz have significantly influenced the match’s dynamics, leaving Bangladesh in a favourable spot as they aim for their third away series win.
