MS Dhoni is set to make his cricketing comeback in IPL 2025
The 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) was expected to be MS Dhoni’s farewell season, but the 43-year-old surprised fans by confirming his availability for the next edition. Under the new IPL retention rules, CSK retained Dhoni as an uncapped player for just ₹4 crore.
In addition to the iconic former skipper, the five-time champions also retained Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and Matheesha Pathirana. The Chennai-based franchise secured a total of 20 players during the recently concluded IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
