The Sardar Patel Unity Cup 2022 got underway in a grand manner at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Friday, October 28. India A thrashed Rest of India by eight wickets to start the tournament on a winning note.
Meanwhile, ahead of the start of the first match of the much-anticipated tournament, the players from both teams and dignitaries came together for the national team. It was one of the grandest moments of the match and was received well by fans and experts alike.

Speaking of the game, India A won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision paid dividends immediately as Kabeer Singh struck in the first over to dismiss Sagar BR. India A continued to pile up pressure on Rest of India and reduced them to 34/3 in 4.1 overs.
However, Praveen Jassa (68) and Prashant Singh (66*) put on a show with the bat to bring Rest of India back into the game. They added 122 runs for the fourth wicket to stage a comeback.
In response, India A had a woeful start, losing both their openers within the first six overs. But Raja Babu and Saurabh Malik put on a superb fight to bail their side out of danger before taking the team home. They shared an unbeaten 173-run stand for the third wicket to take India A home in the first game of the Sardar Patel Unity Cup.
Saurabh Malik remained unbeaten on 94 off 43 balls, while Raja Babu chipped in with an unbeaten 93 off 56 balls to win the game with four balls to spare.
