[WATCH] PM Modi Congratulates Team India On T20 World Cup Victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Team India on the T20 World Cup Victory on Saturday, June 29. Team India triumphed over South Africa through 7 runs in Barbados, clinching the T20 World Cup title. This victory marked the give up of an 11-year drought for India in ICC World Cups.

Both groups entered the last undefeated, but the Rohit Sharma-led Indian side maintained their triumphing streak in an exciting fit. The win ignited a wave of feelings among Indian players, fans, cricket professionals, and leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi prolonged his congratulations through social media, expressing big pride in Team India’s fulfilment.

PM Modi said: “Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team. This match was HISTORIC.”

India’s journey to their 2nd T20 World Cup title started with Rohit Sharma triumphing the toss and opting to bat first. Initially, the selection appeared questionable as South African spinner Keshav Maharaj quickly took two wickets, leaving India suffering at 23/2 within two overs. Sharma and Rishabh Pant had been dismissed early, inflicting problems among Indian supporters. However, Virat Kohli rose to the event, giving a stellar performance.

Kohli anchored the innings, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls, including sixes and 6 fours. His partnership with Axar Patel was crucial in guiding India to an aggressive overall of 176/7. In reaction, South Africa started cautiously. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh furnished a tremendous begin by taking an early wicket. Despite this, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen counterattacked, hitting Indian bowlers aggressively. At one point, Klaasen hit Axar Patel for 22 runs in a single over, decreasing the target to 30 runs off 30 balls.

The shape reached a stressful climax as Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya bowled the last three overs. Their disciplined bowling resulted in the dismissals of Klaasen and David Miller, who were South Africa’s remaining hopes. This tight bowling overall performance secured India’s slender seven-run victory and their 2nd T20 World Cup identity.

Prime Minister Modi’s message celebrated the resilience and skill of the Indian team, highlighting their potential to conquer challenges and deliver under pressure. The victory no longer most effectively brought joy to hundreds of thousands of Indian cricket fans however also reaffirmed the team’s popularity as a dominant force in worldwide cricket.
